Providers of Electronic Trading (PPMSE) or online traders are required to report data and information to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The reported data and information include the type of data, reporting time, and the method of reporting data and/or information related to Electronic Trading (PMSE).
This policy is outlined in Regulation BPS Number 4 of 2023 regarding the Submission and Management of Data and/or Information on Electronic Trading. This regulation is a derivative of Government Regulation Number 80 of 2019 concerning Electronic Trading (PMSE).
"The government has mandated BPS as the institution that receives data from PMSE providers. Regulation BPS Number 4 of 2023 is a derivative regulation that further regulates this matter," said Acting Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti in Jakarta on Monday (30/10), as reported by Antara.
Data reporting by PPMSE will be carried out through the Indonesia Data Hub or Indah platform. This platform offers four reporting options: electronic forms, file uploads, visits, and machine-to-machine.
"It should be noted that BPS will maintain the confidentiality of the data received from PMSE providers, in accordance with Law Number 16 of 1997 regarding Statistics, and will also refer to the fundamental principles of official statistics of the country as described in the United Nations' Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics," Amalia added.
Regulation BPS Number 4 of 2023 was issued considering the significant potential of digital transactions as an accelerator of Indonesia's economy. BPS noted that in 2022, approximately 183 million people in Indonesia had internet access, and about 16.51 percent of them used it for purchasing goods and services.
In view of this, Amalia stated that the government needs accurate and comprehensive data on electronic transactions to formulate various data-driven policies. Thus, it is hoped that all participants in the digital economy, especially consumers and domestic Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which make up more than 99 percent of businesses in Indonesia, can benefit from this policy.
