Top 10 Most Widely Used Online Loan Apps (Pinjol) by Indonesian Citizens

According to a Populix survey entitled "Unveiling Indonesia’s Financial Evolution: Fintech Lending and Paylater Adoption," Akulaku is the most extensively utilized fintech lending or online loan (Pinjol) application by Indonesian consumers.

 

It is worth noting that 46% of respondents admitted to using the Akulaku application. The second position is occupied by Kredivo, which is utilized by 43% of respondents. Following them, EasyCash and AdaKami occupy the third and fourth positions with proportions of 18% each.

 

There are also 13% of respondents who employ the Spinjam app owned by Shopee.

 

"Spinjam has secured the fifth position in brand (fintech lending) usage, possibly due to its association with e-commerce activities," as stated in Populix's report.

 

Additionally, 12% of respondents utilize Findaya, followed by users of the Indodana online loan app (11%), Mekar (4%), Investree (3%), Danacita (2%), and Amartha (2%).

 

The Populix survey also revealed that the majority of online loan app users borrow money less than once a month (66%), followed by once a month (21%), and two to three times a month (13%).

 

Regarding loan amounts, the majority, or 66% of respondents, borrow less than Rp1 million, followed by Rp2 million-Rp3 million (24%), Rp3 million-Rp4 million (5%), Rp4 million-Rp5 million (3%), and over Rp5 million (3%).

 

This survey was conducted from September 15 to 18, 2023, with 420 respondents who are users of online loan apps out of a total of 1,017 respondents representing the entire demographic spectrum of Indonesia. Female respondents comprised 51%, while males constituted 49%.

 

The majority of respondents hailed from Java (79%), followed by Sumatra (12%) and other islands (9%). Respondents fell within the 17-55 age group, predominantly the 17-15 age group (55%), followed by the 26-35 age group (31%).

 

Some of the respondents were employees (56%), students (21%), entrepreneurs (11%), housewives (6%), and individuals from other professions (6%).
