BitMine Acquires 1.72 Million ETH Worth IDR 126 Trillion, Signaling a Shift in Global Crypto Investment Strategies

Jakarta – BitMine Immersion Technologies has once again shaken the digital asset market. The company, led by Tom Lee, reportedly acquired 1.72 million Ethereum (ETH) within just 40 days. The purchase is estimated to be valued at USD 7.65 billion, or roughly IDR 126 trillion (at an exchange rate of IDR 16,489 per USD).

BitMine’s aggressive move took place from late June through late August 2025, making it the corporation with the largest Ethereum treasury holdings in the world. This accumulation signals a significant shift in institutional investment patterns across the crypto market.

The move highlights Ethereum’s growing recognition as a valuable long-term strategic asset at the institutional level, indicating a shift in interest from Bitcoin to Ethereum. Daily inflows into ETH reportedly surpassed USD 900 million, reinforcing the same trend.

Furthermore, BitMine is developing an even more ambitious treasury strategy. According to The Economic Times, the company aims to secure up to 5% of the total circulating supply of ETH. This strategy is supported by the issuance of new shares and increased capital to expand its investment capacity.

This massive acquisition not only reflects BitMine’s confidence in Ethereum’s future potential but also illustrates how the balance of power among crypto assets is beginning to shift. Ethereum is gradually taking a dominant position as the primary choice for institutional investment, challenging Bitcoin’s long-standing hegemony and strengthening its role within the modern global financial landscape.
