Figma Discloses USD 70 Million Bitcoin ETF Holdings, Plans Additional USD 30 Million Investment

San Francisco – Leading digital design company Figma has officially reported holding approximately USD 69.5 million in Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) assets, according to its S-1 filing. In addition, the company’s board of directors has approved an additional investment allocation of USD 30 million, which will be converted from stablecoin assets (USDC) into Bitcoin ETF in the near future.

Investment Details and Future Plans

Initial Investment: Figma began investing in the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF with an allocation of USD 55 million on March 3, 2024. By early 2025, the value of this investment had grown by approximately 27%.

Current Value: As of March 2025, Figma’s Bitcoin ETF holdings amounted to USD 69.5 million, from the company’s total cash and cash equivalents of USD 1.54 billion.

Additional Allocation: On May 8, 2025, Figma’s board of directors approved an additional allocation of USD 30 million in USDC to be invested in Bitcoin ETF, with the transaction expected to be completed shortly.

Asset Diversification Strategy and Treasury Management

Figma positions Bitcoin ETF as part of its treasury diversification strategy, alongside traditional financial instruments such as money market funds, government bonds, and corporate debt securities. This approach reflects the company’s growing confidence in digital assets as a store of value.

Moreover, the use of stablecoin USDC for the purchase process reflects Figma’s cautious approach to managing Bitcoin’s price volatility. This method allows the company to mitigate market fluctuations before fully converting the funds into Bitcoin ETF. This strategy also illustrates Figma’s long-term view of Bitcoin—not merely as a speculative asset, but as an integral part of its liquidity and value preservation strategy.

Impact Analysis and Implications

Aspect Details & Implications
Bitcoin Volatility Reports show that Figma gained approximately USD 23.8 million in 2024 but recorded an unrealized loss of USD 9.3 million in Q1 2025 due to Bitcoin price fluctuations.
Investment Governance The Bitcoin ETF holdings are classified as Level 1 financial assets, indicating strict internal oversight and compliance with accounting standards.
Market Impact Figma’s disclosure of significant Bitcoin holdings reinforces the perception that Bitcoin ETFs have become legitimate treasury instruments for public tech companies.

Conclusion: A New Trend in Tech Treasury Management

With an initial holding of USD 70 million and plans to add USD 30 million more, Figma is among the pioneers of publicly disclosing Bitcoin as part of its cash management strategy. This step further illustrates the increasing openness of technology companies toward adopting digital assets within their corporate financial strategies.

Nevertheless, investors should remain mindful of Bitcoin’s inherent volatility. Although Bitcoin ETFs are viewed as hedging instruments and portfolio diversification tools, this exposure still requires a robust risk management strategy.
