The government has assured that the national food supply remains secure and under control. The Government Communication Agency (Bakom) reported that as of March 2026 the total rice stock reached 27.99 million tons, an amount considered sufficient to meet public demand for approximately 324 days.

In its latest post on the official Instagram account @bakom.ri, the agency explained that the total supply consists of several sources, including government rice reserves stored by Bulog amounting to 3.76 million tons, rice stocks held by the public totaling 12.5 million tons, and unhusked rice ready for harvest estimated at 11.73 million tons.

“National food reserves, especially rice, are confirmed to be well maintained. As of March 2026, total rice availability has reached 27.99 million tons, which is estimated to be sufficient for the next 324 days, ensuring that public needs continue to be fulfilled,” Bakom wrote in its publication, quoted on Sunday (8/2/2026).

Rice production is also considered adequate to meet domestic demand. It is estimated that production from January to May 2026 will reach 16.92 million tons, with an average monthly output of around 2.59 million tons.

Other food commodities are also guaranteed to be secure. For example, the supply of chicken meat and eggs is currently in surplus. In addition, fertilizer stocks for farmers are available, and their prices have decreased by around 20 percent.

“National food production will continue to be maintained to ensure that the needs of the community can be met,” Bakom stated.
