DIGIVESTASI - Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Sudaryono, revealed that around 36 companies and cooperatives have committed to import dairy cows to support the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, with the need reaching 1.3 million dairy cows.
“There are about 36 companies, cooperatives, and others that have committed to import cows to Indonesia,” he said at the House of Representatives, Thursday (12/9/2024).
Some of these companies are from overseas, including PT Frisian Flag Indonesia (FFI). “Frisian Flag is one of several companies that want to increase their investment,” Sudaryono added.
Previously, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman also met with Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar Ridwan Hassan to discuss potential investments. One of the potential investors ready to export dairy cows to Indonesia is Baladna, a Qatari livestock company that focuses on milk production.
Sudaryono confirmed that there are foreign companies interested in investing to meet the needs of dairy cattle in Indonesia. This investment, he said, will not burden the state budget.
“Yes, there are foreign companies, domestic companies, and cooperatives investing, so we are not using the state budget,” he explained.
