The Indonesian Market Traders Association (Ikappi) has urged Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), to take responsibility following the discovery of fraudulent packaging of Minyakita-branded cooking oil.
Several Minyakita producers were found selling products below the standard 1-liter measurement, with actual volumes ranging between 750–800 milliliters (ml).
The Chairman of DPW Ikappi DKI Jakarta, Miftahudin, emphasized that Minister Zulhas must be held accountable for ensuring food stability in Indonesia.
"This is not just about Minyakita’s reduced volume. It reflects how poorly our food governance is managed. From the past until now, there has been no significant improvement. Zulkifli Hasan has clearly failed," Miftahudin stated on Tuesday (March 11, 2025).
He further stressed that the government must ensure smooth food distribution and prevent citizens from becoming victims of poor policies, especially amid rising food prices.
"We, as market traders, witness firsthand the negative impact of this poor management. Prices are soaring, supply is unpredictable, and now Minyakita is facing issues. How much longer must the people suffer?" he questioned.
Due to this, Ikappi has called for immediate government intervention with concrete measures.
"If the government fails to act, not only will the people continue to suffer, but public trust in the administration will further erode," he warned.
In response, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, asserted that companies engaging in fraudulent Minyakita sales must be strictly punished.
"If anyone commits fraud, send them to jail!" Zulhas declared at a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs office in Jakarta, Tuesday (March 11, 2025).
One of the companies accused of fraudulent practices is PT Artha Eka Global Asia (AEGA), which is currently under investigation by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) for reducing the volume of Minyakita cooking oil below the required 1-liter standard.
Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, revealed that the fraud was initially discovered through public reports.
Kemendag had been monitoring the issue from the start through its Task Force (Satgas), which conducts regular field inspections.
Based on this information, Minister Budi and his team immediately conducted an inspection at PT AEGA’s factory on Jalan Tole Iskandar, Depok, on Friday (March 7, 2025). However, upon arrival, they found that the factory had already shut down.
