Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman presented the achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture from January 2025 to November 24, 2025. The first achievement he highlighted was the distribution of the agricultural sector’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2025, which reached 14.35%.
“With a series of policy breakthroughs that we have implemented, we can take pride in the fact that Indonesia’s macro indicators for agricultural development have risen significantly. The agricultural GDP in 2025 reached 14.35%, making it the second-largest contributor to national GDP and the highest in the past six years,” Amran stated during his presentation at a working meeting with Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Monday (24/11/2025).
He also reported that agricultural exports increased by 42.19% to Rp 507.78 trillion as of August 2025, while the number of workers in the narrow agricultural sector rose 1.8% to 38.99 million people.
“Agricultural exports as of August 2025 have reached Rp 507.78 trillion, up 42% from 2024. Meanwhile, the number of agricultural workers increased 1.8% to 38.99 million,” he continued.
According to data from the Area Sample Framework (KSA) of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), rice production from January to December 2025 is estimated to reach 34.77 million tons, an increase of 13.54%. By November 2025, production had already reached 33.19 million tons, surpassing the target of 32 million tons.
“KSA BPS data shows that rice production from January to December 2025 amounted to 34.77 million tons, an increase of 13.53% from the target of 32 million tons. This means there is an additional 2.7 million tons beyond the target. Our stock even reached 4.2 million tons at one point,” Amran explained.
This production level exceeds projections from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which estimated 34.6 million tons, as well as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which forecasted 35.6 million tons.
“The rise in rice production surpasses several projections, including that of the USDA, which expected Indonesia’s 2024–2025 rice output to reach 34.6 million tons. FAO also estimated that our production would hit 35.6 million tons last year,” he added.
Amran emphasized that these achievements are the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and numerous institutions, including Commission IV of the DPR RI, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, the National Food Agency, Bulog, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and many others.
“These accomplishments are the product of our collective collaboration. They were made possible through the support of Commission IV DPR RI, TNI–Polri, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Industry, and all our partners,” Amran concluded.
