Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that employs a large number of migrant workers from around the world, including Indonesia. This information was presented by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) during a meeting with an Indonesian media delegation in Riyadh on Thursday (December 6, 2025).
According to the ministry’s data, the total number of migrant workers in Saudi Arabia in 2025 reached 15,060,911 people. This consists of 10,543,404 workers in the private sector and 4,517,507 domestic workers.
MHRSD defines private-sector workers as individuals—both men and women—who are employed by private entities under a wage-based contract. This category excludes government employees, public-sector workers, and domestic workers who are governed under separate regulations. These workers operate across industries such as manufacturing, services, and trade, and are protected by labor laws that ensure fair treatment, proper wages, and safe working conditions for both Saudi nationals and expatriates.
Domestic workers, on the other hand, are individuals who provide personal household services—directly or indirectly—for an employer or their family. Their roles include tasks such as cleaning, cooking, childcare, driving, and gardening. These jobs operate under domestic labor regulations that specify rights, obligations, and wages.
By nationality, Bangladesh ranks as the largest source of migrant workers with 3,140,836 individuals. Pakistan follows with 2,606,843 workers, while India is third with 2,322,171 workers. Indonesia stands in tenth place with 176,398 migrant workers.
