DIGIVESTASI - Global Tech Companies Push for Digital Skills Training in Indonesia to Develop Digital Economy Potential, Major tech companies continue to support the development of digital talent in Indonesia by providing digital skills training. In addition to Apple, which established the Apple Developer Academy to ease iPhone sales, Google has been running training through the Google Developer Program for years in collaboration with various local institutions, both government and private sectors.

CEO and Founder of Dicoding, Narenda Wicaksono, stated that the initiatives by tech companies to develop digital talent are crucial, given that Indonesia needs about 600,000 digital talents every year according to data from the World Bank. Narenda also mentioned that in line with the Golden Indonesia vision, the country targets to become the fifth-largest economy in the world by 2045.

Several related ministries, such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communication and Information, and the Ministry of Creative Economy, also view digital talent development as a key factor in achieving that vision.

Narenda told CNBC Indonesia that both initiatives from the private sector, the government, and collaborations between the two play a significant role in the development of the digital talent ecosystem.

For instance, the Bangkit program, a collaboration between Google and the Ministry of Education and Culture, has trained 25,000 participants over five years. The economic impact of this program, according to Narenda, is estimated at IDR 2.8 trillion, with 80% of the graduates securing jobs within six months after completing their training.

Meanwhile, the Apple Developer Academy, which was established in 2018, has graduated 2,500 aspiring developers from training centers in Jakarta, Batam, and Surabaya. More than 90% of its graduates have secured jobs in various sectors, including information technology, banking, education, and government.

Narenda hopes that more similar training programs will emerge in the future to improve Indonesia's human resource quality and support the growth of the digital economy. Dicoding, which focuses on developing the developer ecosystem in Indonesia, has partnered with Google in the developer program. Since its establishment on January 5, 2015, Dicoding has provided an online learning platform at Dicoding.com.
