The satellite is scheduled to enter orbit in March next year and begin operations in April. "Testing in orbit will take three to four weeks until the final orbit on March 3.

The Mela Petit 2 satellite is expected to be ready for use in early April 2024," said Telkom President Director Liliek Adrianscher at the Mera Putih 2. satellite press conference on Wednesday (February 21, 2024). Merah Putih 2 will be placed in an orbit of 113 degrees East or above Kalimantan. Its altitude is estimated at 36,000 kilometers above sea level.

Bogi Witjaksono, Telekom's Director of Wholesale and International Services, explained the stages of the satellite during launch. Refueling was done approximately 30 minutes before liftoff and there were no problems at this stage. Then an electrical check is done and everything is in good condition.

There are a few things to check before you start. After liftoff, the first rocket returns to Earth. The next stage, the second rocket, puts Mera Petit 2 into a transitional orbit. Once there, the satellite is released. Mera Petit 2 then moves into its final orbit. "So far, less than 30 minutes have passed since the second missile was fired. "The signal can be received at Thales in France," Bogi explained. 

Lilik said the satellite is expected to provide broadband connectivity. Especially in 3T areas and marine areas. "We hope to see a more equitable adoption of broadband connectivity, especially in the 3T category," he said.
