SharpLink Strengthens Ethereum Reserves Again, Total Holdings Surpass 280,000 ETH

SharpLink Gaming (Nasdaq: SBET) has once again taken an aggressive step to reinforce its position within the Ethereum (ETH) ecosystem. Over the past two weeks, the company executed a series of major acquisitions, making it the largest corporate holder of ETH worldwide—surpassing even the Ethereum Foundation.

Strategic Transactions: From Foundation to Open Market

10,000 ETH Purchased Directly from Ethereum Foundation
On July 10, 2025, SharpLink acquired 10,000 ETH worth approximately US$25.7 million through an OTC transaction directly with the Ethereum Foundation. This marks the first time a publicly listed entity has carried out such a transaction with the Foundation.

Joseph Lubin, Chairman of SharpLink and Co-founder of Ethereum, emphasized:

“This isn’t a trade — it’s a commitment… acquiring, staking and restaking ETH as responsible industry stewards, removing supply from circulation and reinforcing the health of the Ethereum ecosystem.”

This transaction not only strengthens SharpLink’s reserves but also reduces the circulating supply of ETH in the market.

Acquisition Wave Throughout July

June 28 – July 4: SharpLink added 7,689 ETH at an average price of US$2,501, increasing total holdings to 205,634 ETH at the start of July. The company also earned 100 ETH from staking during this period.

July 7 – July 13: SharpLink announced a massive purchase of 74,656 ETH valued at approximately US$213 million, at an average price of around US$2,852 per ETH.

End of Second Week of July: An additional 16,374 ETH worth US$48.8 million pushed total holdings close to 270,000 ETH.

Most Recent Transaction: According to “Coin World,” SharpLink bought another 5,188 ETH for US$15.76 million, further solidifying its dominance.

Total Holdings Surpass 280,000 ETH

As of July 13, 2025, official data shows that SharpLink now controls 280,706 ETH, with an estimated value of US$840–871 million. The company raised US$413 million through an At-The-Market (ATM) facility during July 7–11, leaving approximately US$257 million available for additional acquisitions. To maximize asset productivity, 99.7% of SharpLink’s ETH is allocated to staking protocols, generating 415 ETH in rewards since June 2—including 94 ETH in the past week alone.

Strategic Impact: SharpLink Surpasses Ethereum Foundation

With its latest holdings, SharpLink has officially overtaken the Ethereum Foundation as the world’s largest ETH holder. This move is seen as a strong signal of institutional confidence in the Ethereum ecosystem. Lubin reiterated that this strategy is designed to maintain market stability:

“Enable the supply-demand dynamics of Ether to right-size as we build more and more applications.”

In addition, SharpLink introduced a new metric called “ETH Concentration” — the average ETH per 1,000 diluted shares — which increased from 2.37 to 2.46 ETH in just one week, and has grown 23% since early June.

In a short span of time, SharpLink executed three major waves of acquisitions—including a direct transaction with the Ethereum Foundation—bringing its total holdings close to 281,000 ETH. With an almost fully staked portfolio and substantial capital reserves, SharpLink is not only the largest institutional holder of ETH but is also setting a new benchmark for digital asset management among publicly traded companies.
