DIGIVESTASI - Bank Indonesia's National Food Price Strategy Information Center (PIHPS) page notes that chili prices are on the rise. As of today Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the highest price of red cayenne pepper is in the Maluku Islands, namely IDR 143,750 / kg. Next is Central Kalimantan at IDR 123,750 / kg and North Sulawesi at IDR 124,400 / kg. Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta has a price of IDR 116,500 / kg.
Meanwhile, the national average price of red chili per December 5 is currently IDR 94,300/kg. This figure increased by 4.08% or Rp3,700 compared to the previous day.
Prices of other types of chili continue to increase. The highest increase occurred in large red chilies. The national average price of curly red chili peppers increased by 12.19%, from IDR 8,150 to IDR 75,000 / kg. After that, the price of curly red chili rose 9.52% to IDR 75,350 / kg. While the price of green cayenne pepper is still in the range of IDR 67,100/kg.
The National Food Agency's (Bapanas) Food Price List website also shows that the price of chili peppers has increased sharply. Recorded as of December 5, 2023, the national average price of red chilies increased by 3.69% to IDR 88,070 / kg. Meanwhile, the price of curly red chili is IDR 68,970/kg.
Based on the Bapanas Food Price List, the largest increase in the price of curly red chilies occurred in West Java, which reached Rp 100,000/kg. Meanwhile, the largest increase in the price of red cayenne pepper also occurred in West Java at Rp 120,000/kg.
Previously, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan alias Zulhas monitored commodity prices at Johar Baru Market, South Jakarta, Monday, December 4, 2023. He said that commodity prices were generally stable, except for red cayenne pepper.
During the visit, traders complained about the increase in the price of red cayenne pepper. The price of this product currently reaches IDR 120,000 / kg. This figure is far different from the reference purchase price (HAP) of red chili peppers set by the government, which is IDR 40,000-57,000 / kg.
He also admitted that the price of chili continues to skyrocket. He explained that the reason is because traders are currently only carrying a small supply, causing transportation costs to increase. For this reason, the government subsidizes transportation costs to reduce chili prices.
Furthermore, he said the Ministry of Trade will continue to look for ways to overcome the increase in chili prices. Because, Zulhas said, the increase in chili prices will have an impact on inflation.
