DIGIVESTASI - A computer expert who claims to be the inventor of Bitcoin is on trial in the UK. Bitcoin industry insiders accuse him of falsifying confessions and documents to prove that he is the creator of the cryptocurrency. An Australian citizen named Craig Wright claimed to be "Satoshi Nakamoto", the author of the 2008 white paper on which cryptography is based.
Wright's claim was not accepted by a group of Bitcoin industry stakeholders, the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA). COPA filed a lawsuit to ensure that Bitcoin technology remains open source and to block Wright's series of lawsuits against Bitcoin software developers.
COPA asked the High Court in London to rule that Wright is not Satoshi. The group said Wright repeatedly falsified documents proving that he was the creator of Bitcoin. Furthermore, Wright's story supposedly changed every time there was a crack in the story.
Mr. Wright denied relying on fake records to prove that he is Satoshi. According to him, the issuance of the forged documents was the work of his lawyers. Evidence in the trial of Wright, 54, is expected to last six days. Reuters reported on the trial.
During the trial, COPA attorney Jonathan Huff asked Wright, "Have you ever forged any documents to support your claim that you are Satoshi Nakamoto?" Wright replied flatly, "No." "Did he knowingly submit forged documents to support his claim that he was Satoshi Nakamoto?" Hough said. Mr. Wright again replied, "Not at all."
Mr. Hough showed numerous proofs of forged documents that he claimed came from Wright, including academic papers and handwritten notes. Mr. Wright repeatedly stated that these documents were the reason for his decision to use the name Satoshi Nakamoto.
COPA said the documents used by Wright included fake time stamps to make it appear as if the Bitcoin white paper was created before it was released to the public. The lights didn't move. "Fake the documents and you get a perfect result.
