BPJS Employment and the West Java provincial government aim to bring 5.4 million informal workers into the “Asuransi Aing” protection program in 2027. BPJS Employment President Director Saiful Hidayat said the target includes vulnerable workers such as laborers, small traders, porters and motorcycle taxi drivers.

Contributions are to be shared by the provincial and regency or city governments. For the 2027 target, Saiful said each level of government would fund half of the coverage. Authorities are also encouraging companies to use corporate social responsibility funds to protect vulnerable workers near their business operations; Bisnis.com linked this effort to West Java Regional Regulation No. 5.

For informal workers who enroll independently, the report describes a contribution relief policy of Rp8,400 per month for work accident and death benefits. Payments can also be split into smaller installments, including an example of Rp800 each time an online motorcycle taxi driver receives an order.

BPJS also cited its PEKA program, which offers financial literacy and skills training to participants or their heirs. The listed training includes entrepreneurship, culinary skills, sewing, barista work and digital marketing. The program is intended to help beneficiaries manage benefits and develop income opportunities.

The coverage target and funding arrangements are program plans; they do not mean all 5.4 million people are already enrolled. West Java BPJS head Deny Yusyulian said information outreach must expand so workers understand how to access the protection.
