Pertamina is exploring new upstream oil and gas cooperation in Algeria. The company said the effort is intended to strengthen its international portfolio and improve the contribution of overseas assets to Indonesia’s energy security.

A delegation from Pertamina and its upstream subholding, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), visited Algeria on October 20–22, 2026. A central agenda was the continuity of Block 405A operations, managed through PT Pertamina Algeria EP (PAEP), alongside work-program coordination and portfolio development opportunities.

Pertamina Deputy President Director Oki Muraza said the company aims to sustain Block 405A operations while seeking new collaboration. He emphasized relationships with local government, regulators and industry partners. During the visit, the delegation met ALNAFT officials, Hydrocarbons and Mines Minister Mohamed Arkab, and Sonatrach leadership.

The Sonatrach meeting covered stronger upstream cooperation, continuity of crude oil supplies to Indonesia and potential new partnerships. Pertamina also reviewed PAEP’s operational performance, field activity and asset-management challenges.

The company said PAEP plays a role in maintaining Block 405A operations, optimizing production potential and supporting national energy supply. The report describes discussions and ongoing operations; it does not announce a signed new deal or an additional production target.
