Unemployed for 14 Years, Man Suddenly Receives $10 Billion Transfer — The Shocking Truth Revealed

A Bitcoin transaction has been described as the largest ever recorded, involving the movement of approximately 80,000 BTC worth about US$8.6 billion, which had remained dormant for 14 years. The Bitcoin originated from eight wallets that had been inactive since 2011, with the transfer executed in multiple transactions of 10,000 BTC each.

At the time the coins were originally held, Bitcoin was trading below US$4 per coin, a period commonly referred to as the Satoshi era. The volume of Bitcoin moved far exceeded the previous record of roughly 3,700 BTC.

According to CryptoQuant’s head of research, Julio Moreno, the event represents the largest single-day movement of coins aged 10 years or older in history, as reported by Tech Spot.

Some observers suggest the transfer may indicate a change in ownership, a migration to newer wallet addresses, or potentially a security-related issue. However, Coinbase director Conor Grogan said it is unlikely that the movement of 80,000 BTC resulted from a hack.

He suggested the transfer was more likely carried out to verify whether the long-held private keys were still accessible. Grogan added that the chances of US$8 billion worth of Bitcoin being hacked or having its private keys compromised are very low.

Nevertheless, if a breach were confirmed, it could become the largest theft ever recorded. Tech Spot noted that there is no evidence the Bitcoin has been sold or further moved, while Arkham Intelligence indicated the transfer likely reflects an upgrade from older address formats to newer, more secure ones.
