The Satria-1 satellite has successfully reached its orbit position at 146 degrees East Longitude. The Minister of Communication and Informatics, Budi Arie Setiadi, has announced that the government internet satellite will begin serving the public in early January 2024.

Budi explained, "According to the schedule, the satellite is now in orbit, and the ground segment is currently under development. We hope that early next year, the internet service from the Satria-1 satellite will be available to the public."

Bakti Kominfo will utilize the Satria-1 satellite to provide internet access, with a primary focus on serving 37,000 public facilities in the 3T regions. The locations that will receive internet access from Satria-1 have been identified and verified by Bakti Kominfo in collaboration with relevant ministries and local governments.

The Minister of Communication and Informatics added that the internet connection from the Satria-1 satellite will offer speeds of approximately 55 Mbps per location. "The capacity of Satria-1 is 150 Gbps, and when divided among approximately 30,000 locations, it results in 55 Mbps per location. Given the vast expanse of our country, satellite technology plays a crucial role for us," Budi stated.

After reaching the orbit position at 146 degrees East Longitude, directly above Papua, Bakti Kominfo will prepare its ground segment. "The ground segment is responsible for receiving signals from the satellite in orbit. Currently, we are building this ground segment at various locations," Budi explained.

The entire installation process for the 13-meter Radio Frequency Gateway (RFGW) and Carrier System Monitoring (CSM) of the Satria-1 satellite at 11 gateways or control stations across Indonesia has been completed. These 11 ground stations are located throughout Indonesia, including GW01 Batam, Riau Islands; GW02 Cikarang, West Java; GW03 Pontianak, West Kalimantan; GW04 Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; GW05 Tarakan, North Kalimantan; GW06 Manado, North Sulawesi; GW07 Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT); GW08 Ambon, Maluku; GW10 Timika, Papua; GW11 Jayapura, Papua.
