Several accident incidents have been recorded involving the green-colored taxis. In response, the police have provided statements regarding these occurrences. The green electric taxis operated by Green SM are currently under public scrutiny due to multiple accidents involving them. The latest incident occurred at Bekasi Timur Station. In a video, the Green SM taxi can be seen stopped in the middle of the railway tracks, before a commuter line train arrived and struck the vehicle.
The collision between the taxi and the commuter line disrupted other train operations, forcing them to stop at Bekasi Timur Station. The situation worsened when a long-distance train, Argo Bromo Anggrek, subsequently crashed into the train involved. It is suspected that the collision between the train and the green taxi disrupted the railway signaling system.
The accident is currently under investigation by the police. In the course of this investigation, officers are using the Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) method to reconstruct the incident in detail, including the use of drone technology.
Head of Pullahjianta Subdivision at the Traffic Accident Directorate of Korlantas Polri, Commissioner Sandhi Wiedyanoe, stated that the recorded footage will serve as valid electronic evidence in the ongoing investigation process.
“It will become electronic evidence that will be used in further traffic accident investigations. The results will also be presented to prosecutors and judges as a basis for prosecution and judicial decisions,” Sandhi said, as quoted from the Korlantas Polri website.
Sandhi also highlighted the involvement of Green SM taxis in multiple accidents. Based on detikOto records, specifically at railway crossings, there have been three incidents of train collisions involving taxis from the Vietnam-based company. Beyond railway-related incidents, there have also been several other accidents involving these green electric taxis.
“We at Korlantas, particularly through coordination between the Directorate of Law Enforcement (Ditgakkum) and the Directorate of Safety and Security (Ditkamsel), will evaluate the frequency of incidents involving these green taxis. We will conduct a thorough assessment of the company,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Green SM has indicated that the case is still under investigation. Through its official Instagram account, the company expressed condolences regarding the incident. In its official statement, Green SM emphasized that the investigation process is still ongoing.
“At present, the incident remains under investigation, and there has been no official conclusion from the authorities. Green SM continues to coordinate with relevant authorities by providing necessary information and supporting the investigation process,” the company stated.
“Safety and transparency remain our top priorities. We are committed to maintaining strict operational standards to ensure the safety of drivers, passengers, and the public,” the statement concluded.
