DIGIVESTASI -The sharp rise in rice prices is noticeable. Normally you can get a kilogram (Kg) of the best quality rice in small quantities for Rp 16,000. Now, at this price, people are getting low quality rice - rice with medium quality and lots of cracks.

The cheapest rice price is Rp 16,000 per kg and the most expensive is Rp 20,000 per kg for the special Pandanwangi rice. The price of premium varieties of rice is currently IDR 18,000 per kg. Pak Damar, a trader, admitted that he did not know the brand of rice he was selling. This is because when he bought it at the Cipinang Rice Main Market (PIBC), the rice sacks were plain or unbranded.

"From there we just don't have the brand, so we don't know what brand it is." When met at the location, Damar said, "If the product is good, I will buy it." If you look closely, the rice still looks white, not yellow, just a lot of broken grains. This is understandable, as people can get the best quality rice at this price. 

"Then it will cost money. "If it's cheap there, it won't sell well," he said. Damar explained that currently the price in Central America per 50 kg sack is pegged at IDR 800,000. So if sold in kilos, the price is already IDR 16,000 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of premium rice is currently IDR 900,000 or IDR 18,000 per kg.
