Indonesia’s annual inflation reached 3.28% in September 2026, up from 3.19% in August, while consumer prices rose 0.30% month on month. The annual rate remained within Bank Indonesia’s 2.5% ± 1% target, though changes in food prices can affect households differently.
Volatile food prices rose 5.03% year on year, while core inflation was 2.84% and administered prices increased 3.25%. Volatile food also rose 1.46% month on month. Because households buy groceries frequently, selected food items may feel more expensive than the national average suggests.
To manage a household budget, track grocery spending for several weeks, compare unit prices, and plan meals before shopping. Separate regular needs from impulse purchases and review spending categories that react most to price changes. National inflation is not a forecast for every item, and it does not mean every household faces the same cost change.
