DIGIVESTASI - Apple has removed at least nine cryptocurrency trading apps from the App Store in Indonesia. Previously, these apps were flagged as "illegal" to operate in Indonesia. The government agency, Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in India said the nine cryptocurrency apps circulating in the country do not comply with current anti-money laundering regulations.

The FIU also asked India's IT Ministry to block the official websites of nine cryptocurrency services operating in India, as quoted by TechCrunch, on Thursday (November 1, 2024). One of the blocked services is Binance, a cryptocurrency service that was recently caught up in a case in the United States (US), even its CEO had to resign and was imprisoned.

Apart from Binance, several cryptocurrency exchange apps have also been removed in India. These include Kraken, Houbi, Gate.io, Bittrex, Bitstamp, and Bitfinex. "We continue to look for ways to sustain our business in India in the long term," Binance continued. The crypto giant also ensured that all customer funds are safe.
