DIGIVESTASI - The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) targets 15 million electric vehicles on Indonesian roads. This was conveyed by the Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination, Rachmat Kaimuddin, to Kemenko Marves at the "Virtual Performance Review 2023 towards Golden Indonesia" event in Jakarta, Friday (December 22, 2023). The number includes 2 million electric cars and 12 million electric motorcycles.

Meanwhile, until now, the number of electric vehicles circulating on the roads in Indonesia has reached tens of thousands. "We still have a long way to go, but the future is very promising because we still have about seven more years and the government has provided a number of incentives," said Rachmat. To achieve this goal, according to Rachmat, there are three things to consider:

First, a wide selection of reliable and efficient means, both in terms of performance and so on.

Second, the affordability of electric vehicles.

Third, a complete and efficient infrastructure ecosystem.

However, the Perpres provides a condition, namely that if electric vehicle manufacturers import in 2025, they must commit to increasing production capacity with a production volume at least equal to the number of exports of imported vehicles in 2027.

"And the products it produces must fulfill TKDN. Mr. Rachmat said: "Our industry roadmap is 40% by 2026 and 60% by 2027. Second, electric vehicle manufacturers must provide commitments and guarantees so that if they do not fulfill these production commitments, they will be penalized.

"So for example, if they import 1,000 units until (year) 2025, then they must produce 1,000 units until 2027," Mr. Rachmat explained. "If for example they only produce 500 units, then the remaining 500 units must return the incentive money they received," he continued.
