The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed higher despite failing to reclaim the psychological 8,700 level. At the end of trading on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the index gained 36.81 points, or 0.43 percent, to settle at 8,686.47.

Market activity was relatively robust, with total transaction value reaching Rp29.60 trillion. A total of 49.88 billion shares changed hands across 2.75 million transactions. Market breadth showed 355 stocks advancing, 296 declining, and 146 ending flat.

Meanwhile, foreign investors recorded net selling of Rp934.76 billion across all markets. This consisted of Rp90.99 billion in the regular market and Rp843.77 billion in the negotiated and cash markets.

Despite the overall net outflow, several stocks attracted foreign buying interest. PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk. (EMTK) emerged as the top foreign net buy, totaling Rp140.26 billion.

Foreign inflows into EMTK came ahead of the initial public offering (IPO) of its subsidiary, Superbank (SUPA), which is set to be listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

In addition, foreign investors posted net purchases in PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (TLKM) worth Rp74.63 billion and PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera Tbk. (EXCL) amounting to Rp74.11 billion.
