President Prabowo Subianto expressed Indonesia’s strong ambition to evolve into a modern and prosperous nation.

He noted that many observers predict Indonesia could rank as the world’s fourth or fifth largest economy within the next 10 to 20 years.

Prabowo conveyed this outlook during a briefing with regional leaders from Papua at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

In his remarks, he stated that within the next 15 to 20 years, Indonesia has the potential to rise into the top five, or even top four, economies globally.

At present, Prabowo explained, Indonesia stands as the world’s eighth-largest economy.

He also cited data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which shows Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP) at USD 4.66 trillion, equivalent to approximately Rp 76.3 quadrillion.

Despite the optimistic projection, Prabowo emphasized that achieving this goal requires comprehensive reforms in government management and governance.

According to him, the nation’s main challenge does not lie in the lack of natural resources, but in how effectively those resources are administered.

Prabowo stressed that Indonesia’s wealth must be managed with integrity so that its vast resources can benefit all citizens.

He further underlined that national transformation must be inclusive and leave no region behind, expressing his unwillingness to see people living in hardship or hunger amid the country’s abundant riches.

Therefore, Prabowo called on all levels of leadership—from ministers to governors, regents, and mayors—to intensify their efforts in addressing existing shortcomings.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law and thoroughly addressing misconduct, stating that officials who fail to perform will be removed regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, or religious background.
