DIGIVESTASI - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) is starting to seriously boost the search for new oil and gas reserves through overseas expansion. After successfully winning an oil and gas field auction in Malaysia, the company is now exploring several potential fields in other countries.  PHE Exploration Director Muharram Jaya Pangrisen said PHE is working with several large oil and gas companies such as ENI and Petronas to facilitate increased oil and gas production.

"We are working with ENI and Petronas to evaluate several blocks in Africa and South America. The evaluation has started. Hopefully we find candidates that meet the criteria to catch big fish. We can do that," he said in a PHE media briefing on Wednesday. (July 2, 2024). PHE's overseas expansion process for upstream oil and gas operations has many aspects. One of them is the acquisition of oil and gas blocks that are already in production. "There are various acquisitions that become existing blocks, we have acquired PIs, and there are also new blocks in Malaysia. We integrate it into the block," he said, I did it.

As is known, PHE is currently expanding aggressively to look for new oil and gas blocks abroad. This happened after the company and its partners won the SK510 exploration block auction in Malaysia.  The 1,864 km2 SK510 block off the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia, is believed to have great potential. Therefore, Pertamina's participation in the management of this block is expected to help maintain national energy security.

"Currently, many international and national blocks are being evaluated that we can adopt. My message to the team is that the fields that we can explore are the ones that we can take over. a large field," he said.
