PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) reports a significant increase in the number of train passengers leading up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023 in Indonesia. Joni Martinus, VP Public Relations of PT KAI, revealed that the sale of long-distance train tickets until Friday (10/11/2023) has reached around 68,000 tickets. This figure indicates a 26% increase compared to the previous week or Friday (3/11/2023), which reached about 54,000 tickets.
Joni explained that PT KAI will continue to monitor the progress of train ticket bookings related to the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023. The company is also committed to supporting intercity transportation processes in the Java region to ensure the success of the event. Additionally, PT KAI has prepared anticipatory measures to handle an increase in passengers during the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023, including accommodating foreign tourists who wish to use trains to reach tournament venues.
"So far, the fleet we have prepared in all operational areas can still accommodate the public's demand, and of course, we will continue to evaluate this. If there is an increase in passengers during this event, we will make efforts to accommodate everyone," said Joni.
As a form of support for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023, coinciding with Heroes' Day, PT KAI has launched the Patriotrip Promo. This promotion offers more than 25,000 train tickets with a 25% discount, available for booking from November 8-10, 2023, with train departures from November 13-30, 2023. Promo tickets can be purchased through all official PT KAI ticket booking channels, except at station counters.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023 is held in several cities in Indonesia, namely Surabaya, Jakarta, Bandung, and Solo, from November 10 to December 2, 2023. This marks Indonesia's first time hosting a FIFA tournament, and the first FIFA U-17 World Cup held in Southeast Asia.
