Becoming a successful person is the desire of everyone. However, achieving success is not as easy as snapping your fingers. There are several processes that must be undergone before reaching that point.

To date, many people are still looking for ways or habits that can lead their lives to success.

Citing CNBC Make It, organizational psychologist and professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Adam Grant, revealed that there are 10 habits practiced by successful individuals that bring about significant changes in their lives. What are they? Here are 10 small changes in life that successful people make every day.

Step Out of the Comfort Zone According to Grant, one of the habits of successful people is stepping out of their comfort zones. Not only that, but successful individuals also tend to make themselves feel uncomfortable. "Pursuing discomfort puts you on a faster path of development. If you want to be right, you have to feel wrong first," says Grant, quoted on Wednesday (8/11/2023).

Seek Advice, Not Feedback For successful people, feedback does not encourage them to move forward. Because feedback looks at things that have already happened, not what will happen. Therefore, they prefer advice that looks ahead. "Advice is forward-looking. Through advice, people are like guiding you," says Grant.

Find Reliable Sources Currently, there are many sources of information around you. Successful people have the ability to find reliable sources. Moreover, they are also able to decide which information is worth accepting.

Target Excellence, Not Perfection According to Grant, success comes from the habit of maintaining high standards, not eliminating every flaw and constantly aspiring to be a perfect person.

Be Your Own 'Judge' For successful individuals, disappointing oneself is considered a bad thing that should not be done. Therefore, they think it's better to disappoint others than themselves. To be a judge for yourself, you have to be someone who always considers and makes good decisions for yourself without always involving others. "Before you release something to the world, consider whether it represents you? If this is your only work, are you proud of it?" says Grant.

Turn Routines into a Source of Happiness According to Grant, successful people always consider their daily busyness as a source of happiness. Therefore, you are advised to choose activities that bring joy to maintain your own happiness.

Dare to Find a Way Out Grant says that there is nothing wrong if someone decides to 'turn around' or 'retreat' when faced with a dead end in a problem. According to him, although it feels like experiencing setbacks, 'turning around' or 'retreating' can be a way to find a new path and discover the road to success.

Teach What You Want to Learn The best way to learn is by teaching something to someone else. Because you can understand something better after explaining it to others. "Moreover, you can remember it better after you take the time to remember it," says Grant. "You can do this in a group with each member teaching different skills or information," he adds.

Give Others a Chance Usually, successful people always open opportunities for others who are underestimated or do not have big opportunities. Typically, successful individuals often monitor the progress of others as a form of investment.

Make Yourself Proud One thing that motivates successful individuals to continue to grow is making themselves proud of their past. "When you find it difficult to appreciate your own development, think about how your past self viewed your current achievements," says Grant.
