Alfred Nainggolan, Head of Research at Praus Capital, in a previous report said dividends did not have a significant impact on the overall market  index. This is because the issuer's dividend yield in the capital market is not too high. "Under these conditions, the distribution of interim dividends will not have a material impact on the growth of the JCI," said Alfred when contacted by Bisnis, Friday, October 6. On the other hand, Alfred estimates that interim dividend sentiment will only have a relatively short-term impact on the share price movements of an issuer.

"Based on our observations, the driver of share price appreciation due to the psychology of dividend payments occurs from the dividend announcement period to the final dividend date," said Alfred. Therefore, he advised investors to pay close attention to this period so they can take advantage of the dividend momentum. "Another factor that benefits from dividend momentum is the median level of dividend yield," he continued. The higher the return, the greater the possibility that the stock price will rise.

Separately, Reliance Securities analyst Lukman Hakim said interim dividend payments could increase investment appetite in the Indonesian stock market. "This can increase capital inflows and transactions on the Indonesian stock market," said Lukman, Sunday (10 August 2023). Lukman said that the start of interim dividend distribution in period II 2023 will provide benefits for market players who take advantage of interim dividends and implement long-term strategies. “Short-term investors can also take advantage of this dynamic by focusing on dividend yields,” he explained.
