DIGIVESTASI - Apple, a US-based technology company, is rumored to be developing a prototype foldable phone. The Information reported this week that Apple has prototyped at least two wide-folding iPhones and has been in contact with at least one manufacturer regarding parts for folding phones of various sizes. 

 

The report, which cited people with direct knowledge of the matter, said the phones are still in the early stages of development and there is no guarantee they will be available to consumers. Apple itself has been looking for a foldable device for years. The company obtained a patent for a foldable phone in 2016. In 2020, Apple filed a patent for a foldable electronic device that allows part of the screen to remain open when folded, so that users can continue to display notifications even if the phone is closed. 
Apple's patent filing last year detailed that a foldable iPhone could automatically close to protect the screen from serious damage if dropped.
