DIGIVESTASI - Two Google employees are leaving its subsidiary Deep Mind soon. It is known that Laurent Sifre and Karl Tuyls are founding their own artificial intelligence (AI) startup in Paris, France. The two founded a startup called Holistic. The company will build the latest AI model.

A Bloomberg News report shows that Sifre and Tuyls are in talks with investors to form a new company. They discussed financing of more than 200 million euros (Rp 3.4 trillion), as quoted by Reuters, Monday (January 22, 2024). Google and DeepMind did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The departure of Sifre and Tuyls to form a new company is not the first time. Previously, former DeepMind researchers also founded Mistral AI, which is also based in Paris. Last December, the company announced it had raised 285 million euros in funding. This funding was part of a second round that lasted seven months.
DeepMind was acquired by Google about 10 years ago, in 2014. The aim was to boost AI research within the company.

The company is an AI laboratory that specializes in designing neural network models modeled on the human brain.  One of the most affected programs created by DeepMind is AlphaGo. The computer program can play the game of Go and beat world champion Lee Sedol.  The development of AI also makes DeepMind work hard. One of them is competing with ChatGPT, a chatbot powered by Microsoft.
