According to CoinGecko data, five crypto narratives emerged as the most popular globally throughout 2025.

Meme Coins
Meme coins once again claimed the top spot as the most prominent crypto narrative in 2025. This category captured 12.48 percent of investor interest, maintaining its leading position for the second consecutive year. When combined with various meme coin subtrends, total interest reached 25.02 percent. Although this figure declined from 30.67 percent in 2024, meme coins continued to command market attention despite signs of waning speculative enthusiasm.

Artificial Intelligence
AI-based crypto narratives ranked second with a 9.76 percent share of investor interest. While this marked a decrease from 12.58 percent in 2024, artificial intelligence remained a core theme within the global crypto market. In fact, when all related subcategories are included, AI accounted for a combined 22.39 percent of total crypto narrative interest in 2025.

AI Agents
AI Agents emerged as the fastest-growing subnarrative of the year. Their share of interest surged from 1.17 percent in 2024 to 5.03 percent in 2025. This increase of 3.86 percentage points propelled AI Agents up 14 positions year over year, reflecting rising market focus on autonomous AI agents operating directly on blockchain networks.

Real World Assets
The Real World Asset (RWA) narrative experienced the steepest annual decline. Its share of investor interest fell from 8.64 percent in 2024 to 4.98 percent in 2025. As a result, RWA dropped from third to fourth place, as the proliferation of new narratives diluted investor attention toward real-world asset tokenization.

Solana Meme Coins
Solana-based meme coins ranked sixth with a 4.57 percent share of market interest, successfully retaining their position from 2024. Low transaction costs and high network speed were key factors sustaining the popularity of meme coins within the Solana ecosystem.

Overall, CoinGecko data shows that meme coins and AI together accounted for roughly 46 percent of total global crypto narrative interest in 2025. Meanwhile, several established narratives such as GameFi, DePIN, and Layer 2 fell out of the top 20 rankings due to declining market attention and intensifying competition among crypto themes.
