Samudera Indonesia Tbk. (SMDR) reported stronger results through September 2026. Revenue reached US$647.4 million, or about Rp11.57 trillion using an exchange-rate assumption of Rp17,877 per US dollar. That was 13% above the same period a year earlier. EBITDA rose 39% to US$205 million, while net profit grew 18% to US$50.9 million, equivalent to about Rp909.45 billion.

President director Bani Maulana Mulia said transport capacity remained in demand despite geopolitical disruptions affecting the shipping industry. SMDR has ordered five new vessels from shipyards in China: three container ships and two chemical tankers, with deliveries scheduled in stages from 2027.

The company is also finalizing orders for four additional vessels, split between shipyards in China and Japan. If completed, the fleet expansion plan would total nine ships. They are intended to support domestic and international services, including shipping links between Indonesia and Japan.

Fleet investment is accompanied by development at Patimban Global Gateway Terminal in West Java. SMDR is awaiting container cranes and rubber-tyred gantry cranes from China. Bani said terminal operations and customer demand had progressed faster than initially planned, and the additional equipment is expected to raise service capacity and productivity.

SMDR’s network spans 28 countries, 59 ports and about 40 regular routes across Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Europe. Despite its international reach, Indonesia and Southeast Asia remain core markets for the company.

Bani sees a positive outlook through the end of 2026 and into 2027, while remaining alert to slower global growth and shifts in demand. Congestion at ports may signal strong logistics needs and could support freight and port-service rates. He also said US-dollar receipts from some international voyages may limit the immediate effect of rupiah weakness on revenue, although currency exposure remains relevant because fleet and port investments include dollar-denominated costs.
