Ethereum Sets December 3 as the Launch Date for Major “Fusaka” Upgrade
The Ethereum network is entering a new phase of its evolution. Following a series of intensive tests across multiple testnets, Ethereum’s core developers have officially scheduled December 3, 2025, as the launch date for its next major network upgrade, named “Fusaka.”
The decision was announced during the 168th All Core Developers Consensus Layer (ACDC) meeting, where the development team confirmed that Fusaka will go live once the network reaches slot 13,164,544, which is expected to occur at 21:49 UTC (04:49 WIB, December 4, 2025).
Fusaka Upgrade: Key Enhancements and Core Features
The Fusaka upgrade is far more than a routine technical update. It encompasses over a dozen Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) designed to enhance the network’s scalability, data efficiency, and security. One of the most notable components is the introduction of Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS) — a technology that allows validators to verify only portions of data instead of entire data blobs. This mechanism significantly reduces network data load, accelerates validation processes, and lowers costs for Layer-2 (L2) developers.
Testing Results and Network Readiness
Before its mainnet implementation, Fusaka underwent a series of stability and compatibility tests across major testnets. The final test was conducted on the “Hoodi” testnet, following successful deployments on Holesky and Sepolia. The tests yielded stable performance without major anomalies, providing developers with strong confidence to proceed with the final rollout on the mainnet.
Anticipatory Measures and Community Oversight
Although the launch date has been set, the core Ethereum team emphasized that activation “by slot” means the upgrade will automatically execute once the network reaches the predetermined slot number. As a result, active monitoring from validators and node operators remains essential to ensure client synchronization, cross-layer compatibility, and ecosystem stability after the upgrade.
The Strategic Significance of Fusaka for the Ethereum Ecosystem
The launch of Fusaka marks a pivotal milestone in Ethereum’s journey toward becoming a more efficient, scalable, and developer-friendly network. This upgrade is expected to pave the way for overall performance improvements, ranging from faster transaction speeds to reduced gas costs. For investors, developers, and validators, this moment represents a critical opportunity to prepare for technical updates, system synchronization, and adaptation to the new protocol changes that will take effect in December.
Through this milestone, Ethereum continues to strengthen its position as the foundational infrastructure of the Web3 ecosystem, amid intensifying global competition among blockchain networks striving to deliver more efficient and sustainable solutions.
