DIGIVESTASI - Indodax, the largest crypto asset trading platform in Indonesia, allegedly suffered a hack that resulted in potential losses of up to Rp335 billion. Indodax CEO, Oscar Darmawan, responded to this incident.

Oscar confirmed that his platform's transaction system was indeed allegedly hacked, but he did not provide details regarding the amount of losses incurred. “Our transaction system was allegedly hacked. Currently, we are conducting a thorough investigation and system maintenance,” he said in a joint statement with Bappebti, Wednesday (11/9).

As a security measure, Oscar explained that the platform is temporarily inaccessible, but he emphasized that customer funds remain safe.

In the midst of this incident, it's worth getting to know more about Oscar Darmawan, the man behind Indodax. Oscar is the CEO and founder of Indodax, which was originally founded in 2013 under the name Bitcoin.co.id or Bitcoin Indonesia with William Sutanto. The company later changed its name to Indodax.

Born in Semarang on December 15, 1985, Oscar is the second of five children. He completed his education at Monash University Singapore in 2006, earning a degree in technology and information systems, and has a Certified Ethical Hacker certificate from EC-Council USA.

Coming from a modest family, Oscar has been in business since childhood, selling toys and school supplies to his friends. While studying in Singapore, he was able to finance his own needs.

Before establishing Indodax, Oscar had already established several businesses, including Pondok Media which is engaged in web development, hosting, and internet marketing. This business was established in 2007 with a capital of Rp5 million, which was used for promotion and renting computers at an internet cafe. The success of this business encouraged him to establish the ads-id.com internet business forum with William Sutanto.

Oscar also runs hobihouse.com, an e-commerce business with his wife Yenni. Despite his failures in Forex and e-money trading, Oscar learned from these experiences and decided to focus on his personal endeavors.

As CEO of Indodax, Oscar plays an active role in educating the public about blockchain technology in Indonesia. “As the founder and CEO of PT Indodax Nasional Indonesia, he is responsible for the company's operations and plays a role in educating the public about the development of blockchain technology and maintaining good relations with the community,” the company wrote on its official website.
