Ministry of Agriculture Encourages the Rise of Agricultural Conglomerates

The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) is actively promoting the formation of conglomerates in the agricultural sector, recognizing the vast economic potential and open opportunities within the industry.

Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that a leader’s success is determined by policies that support farmers and the agricultural sector. He believes that agriculture presents a great opportunity for people to achieve large-scale economic success.

"If you want to become a conglomerate, enter the agricultural sector, as its economic opportunities are vast and widely accessible," Amran stated in a written statement on Saturday (Feb 22, 2025).

President Prabowo’s Strong Support for Agriculture

Amran highlighted President Prabowo Subianto's strong commitment to agricultural development, which is reflected in several key policies, including:

• A 100% increase in fertilizer supply
• Distribution of free seeds to farmers
• Improvement of irrigation infrastructure
• Raising the Government Purchase Price (HPP) for rice

"To be a great leader, one must care about farmers. The farmers’ voice is the people’s voice, and the people’s voice is God’s voice. Out of Indonesia’s 10 biggest conglomerates, 8 come from agriculture. There is no reason why you cannot succeed in this sector. We are on the right path," Amran affirmed.

Young Generation as the Key to Agricultural Growth

Amran stressed that agricultural development must be sustained by all stakeholders, particularly the younger generation. He expressed confidence that Indonesia could emerge as a global power within the next decade through youth involvement.

"We must be optimistic about achieving Indonesia’s golden era. If we stay committed, we can make a global impact in the next 5 to 10 years. Want success? Start with a big dream, stay consistent, and be dedicated to your field," he said.

Government Strengthens National Food Security

The Indonesian government is currently working to achieve food self-sufficiency through several strategic national programs, such as:

• Developing new rice fields
• Optimizing agricultural land

Amran also assured that national food stocks are secure, especially in preparation for Ramadan.

"We should be grateful that this year we have the highest food stock levels before Ramadan. Moving forward, we will position Indonesia as the world's food powerhouse," he concluded.
