DIGIVESTASI - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) recalled that Indonesia has a great opportunity to become a developed country. He is optimistic that Indonesia can achieve this in three periods under the leadership of the president. Jokowi said that the calculation was not his personal calculation, but the calculation was compiled by a number of national and international organizations, including the National Development Planning Agency (Bapenas), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the International Organization. Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).

Therefore, he urged leaders to be careful not to fall into the trap of middle-income countries. This is what happened in Latin American countries from 1950 to 1970.  "Latin American countries became developing countries in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Countries that are in civilization are usually given opportunities, but are unable to take advantage of them so they are given," Jokowi said. Therefore, these countries are still developing countries today. Some countries have even regressed to the status of bad countries. 

"Things like this should not happen in our country, Indonesia. We must take advantage of this opportunity to become a developed country. "So to get the demographic bonus, one of the keys is the quality and productivity of the younger generation," he explained. Therefore, according to Jokowi, education and human resource (HR) development are very important. He advised the students to have diverse knowledge and good character.
