Director General of Oil and Gas Ensures No More LPG 3 Kg Lines on February 5, 2025
The Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Achmad Muchtasyar, assured that the scarcity and long queues for 3 kg LPG purchases would not occur again on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
This statement was made by Achmad while accompanying the Minister of ESDM, Bahlil Lahadalia, on a working visit to a 3 kg LPG depot in Tangerang City on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. During the visit, Achmad explained that the previous long queues were caused by a halt in the distribution of subsidized gas to retailers. However, with the elevation of the retailer status to sub-depot, he is confident that 3 kg LPG buyers will no longer need to face long queues.
Cause of the Queue
Achmad further acknowledged the queues for 3 kg LPG purchases that are still occurring at several depots. He explained that the government’s decision to temporarily stop the distribution to retailers caused many households to temporarily run out of gas, leading to the queues. "Since distribution was temporarily stopped, it created a bottleneck. Many people had run out and had to queue," he said.
He also added that the distribution of 3 kg LPG by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has been improving, with a significant increase in the number of cylinders being delivered to depots. "As proof, 560 cylinders per delivery. It’s rare, usually only 70 cylinders a day," Achmad stated.
