DIGIVESTASI - Fire Losses at Glodok Plaza Estimated to Reach IDR 90 Billion

The losses caused by the fire at Glodok Plaza, West Jakarta, are estimated to exceed IDR 90 billion. The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji, stated that the incident, which occurred on Wednesday (January 15) at 9:33 PM WIB, destroyed the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors of the building.

 

“The estimated losses amount to IDR 90.9 billion,” said Isnawa on Sunday (January 19).

In addition to material losses, 14 people were reported missing due to the fire. So far, the authorities have evacuated eight bodies to Kramat Jati Police Hospital for identification.

 

“Information regarding the victims' identities will be conveyed once the data is released by Kramat Jati Police Hospital,” he explained.

Regarding the cause of the fire, Isnawa stated that the police are still investigating, and no official conclusion has been made yet.

 

“The cause of the incident is still under investigation,” he added.

The massive fire occurred at Glodok Plaza, Tamansari, West Jakarta, on Wednesday (January 15) at approximately 9:22 PM WIB. The firefighting operation was only completed on Friday (January 17) at 6:56 PM WIB, involving 47 fire trucks and 230 personnel at the scene.

“The firefighting team continues to monitor the building’s condition and conduct periodic searches,” said Isnawa.
