The CAF World Giving Index is one of the largest global philanthropy surveys ever conducted. Since 2009, they have interviewed millions of people around the world.
The report published by CAF this year includes data from 142 countries. CAF surveyed people in many countries and asked them if they would help a stranger, donate money, or volunteer for a good cause for others.
According to the Charities Aid Foundation's World Giving Index 2023, 4.2 billion people around the world help strangers, donating their time or money to good causes. The country is Indonesia.
With this announcement, three of the top 10 countries have been added to the category of the world's largest economies. Starting with Indonesia at number one, followed by America at number five, and Canada at number eight.
Liberia is unique, being one of the poorest countries in the world and ranked as the 4th most generous country in the world. Several CAF findings can be gleaned from this research. That is, people with strong religious beliefs generally score higher on the generosity index.
Also, people who have a positive outlook on life are more likely to donate to charity. Some of the happiest countries in the world, such as Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and Iceland, are among the top 10 most generous countries.
