DIGIVESTASI - Popular YouTuber IShowSpeed has canceled his visit to Papua after previously planning to live-stream from the region. In his explanation, the man whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr. revealed the reason behind the trip's cancellation. Through a live broadcast on his YouTube channel, Speed said that he was supposed to fly to Papua using a commercial airline on Saturday (21/9/2024) at 07.15 WIB. However, the plan failed to take place because the flight was suddenly canceled.
Speed explained that the cancellation was due to a lack of tickets sold for the flight. However, he did not mention the airline in question. “They didn't sell enough tickets, so all flights to Papua were canceled,” Speed said in his live broadcast on Saturday (21/9/2024). Following the cancellation, Speed decided to visit Yogyakarta and live-stream for the third time from there. However, he still showed interest in visiting Papua on Monday (23/9/2024). “If you all still want me to go to Papua, the next flight is available on September 23. So let me know if you want part four (live broadcast) in Papua,” he told fans via YouTube.
Previously, Speed's plan to do a live broadcast in Papua emerged after many Indonesian netizens suggested it. This news was confirmed by Fakfak-based comedian Mamat Alkatiri. Through his X (Twitter) account, @mamatAlkatiri, Mamat said that he received a request from Speed to accompany him during his visit to Papua. “Really asked to accompany me to Papua, where tomorrow is really fitting for me to Jayapura,” Mamat wrote in his tweet. Previously, Mamat also uploaded a screenshot showing a message from Speed on Instagram. “Because of you guys,” Mamat wrote in her upload on X.
