Flood in Bekasi Causes Major Losses to SPPG Rice Stock

Flooding at the Nutritional Service Fulfillment Unit (SPPG) in Bekasi has resulted in significant losses, particularly affecting rice supplies that could not be salvaged. The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, reported that 20 sacks of rice, each weighing 50 kg, or a total of 1 ton, were submerged and completely damaged.

"The flood came so quickly that not all stocks could be saved," Dadan stated on Saturday (March 8, 2025). "With each sack valued at around Rp600,000, the total material loss for the rice alone reached Rp12 million. However, beyond the rice, we also have to consider storage damage, manpower, and time losses," he added.

Electronic Equipment Damage Still Under Assessment

In addition to the rice loss, one electronic device at the facility was also damaged due to the flood. However, the total financial impact of this equipment is still being assessed.

SPPG Bekasi Head, Nindy Anita, mentioned that technicians have prohibited the use of the affected equipment until a thorough inspection is completed.

"The rice loss is confirmed to be Rp12 million, but the extent of the damage to electronic devices is still unknown as we await a technical evaluation," Nindy explained.

SPPG Services Remain Operational with Preventive Measures in Place

Despite the substantial losses, SPPG services continue to operate without disruption. The agency is also implementing preventive measures to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
