The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that Indonesia’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a monthly (month to month/mtm) deflation of 0.48% in February 2025, while annual deflation stood at 0.09%.
"The 0.48% mtm deflation reflects a decline in the CPI this month," stated BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti during a press conference on Monday (March 3, 2025).
A market consensus compiled by CNBC Indonesia from 12 institutions previously projected a mtm deflation of 0.04% for February 2025. Meanwhile, annual (year on year/yoy) inflation was expected to reach 0.64%.
For comparison, in January 2025, the CPI recorded a mtm deflation of 0.76%, while yoy inflation stood at 0.76%.
Several key events influenced price movements in February 2025, including the government’s electricity tariff discount policy, increased production of red chili and cayenne pepper, adjustments to regional water utility (PDAM) tariffs, and changes in non-subsidized fuel prices.
