DIGIVESTASI – The Chinese government hopes that the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, will choose the path of cooperation over confrontation with China. This statement was made by the Spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.

On Monday, January 20, 2025, at 12:02 PM local time, Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the President of the United States at the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C. "The history of China-U.S. relations shows that cooperation benefits both countries, while confrontation leads to mutual harm," Mao Ning stated during a press conference in Beijing on the same day, as quoted by Antara.

Mao Ning added that China has always believed that a stable, healthy, and sustainable bilateral relationship serves the shared interests of both countries and reflects the expectations of the international community.

China, Mao Ning continued, is ready to work with the new U.S. administration to enhance dialogue, strengthen communication, and effectively manage differences.

"We are committed to making greater progress in bilateral relations from this new starting point, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, and seeking the best way for both countries to coexist in this new era for the sake of shared interests and the world," she explained.

Trump's inauguration was officiated by Chief Justice of the United States, John Roberts. Following this, JD Vance was sworn in as Vice President of the United States for the 2025–2029 term, followed by Trump's inaugural address as President for the 2025–2029 term.
