DIGIVESTASI - President Joko Widodo is preparing to optimize new economic growth engines to spur Indonesia's economic growth faster. The economic growth target in 2024, the last year of Jokowi's administration, is 5.2%. Meanwhile, the economic growth target in 2025, when the new government winning the 2024 presidential election replaces Jokowi, is set at a range of 5.3% to 5.6%.

"We have prepared various measures and we also want to encourage various engines of economic growth," Head of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Susiwidjono Moedgiarso said in the 2024 economic projection. Susiwidjono said that the strategy was implemented to build new economic growth engines, ranging from industrialization to digitalization and the transition to sustainable energy.

In addition to revitalizing traditional engines such as productivity, competitiveness and infrastructure. Furthermore, strategies are also developed to strengthen community resilience and empowerment through a series of social protection measures, such as maintaining the purchasing power of the poor and vulnerable, microfinance and cash-intensive jobs.
"From digitalization, downstreaming, to industrialization, our GDP structure is still dominated by domestic household consumption, so we must be able to continue to encourage social protection," he said.

In particular, emphasis will be placed on developing downstream programs, the petrochemical industry, the automotive industry, the semiconductor supply chain, and improving the national logistics ecosystem to develop industrialization as a new driver of economic growth.

A sustainable energy transition will then be implemented through the Asian Zero Emission Community (AZEC), which builds new renewable energy (NRE) power plants, uses bioenergy, and adds energy infrastructure.

Meanwhile, digitalization is conceptualized as a source of new economic growth through the development of digital human resources, implementation of a national digital economy development strategy, construction of data centers, and others. The main sectors supporting Indonesia's digital economy are e-commerce, transportation and food, online travel, and online media.
