DIGIVESTASI - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) encourages PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) to immediately develop the Zulu field. The field is estimated to have potential oil resources of up to 1 billion barrels. Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Aliazi said the government has identified several oil fields that have great potential to be developed immediately, including the Zulu field and the ONWJ working area.
"I encourage Pertamina to capitalize on that. Zulu is very big. It could amount to 800 million barrels to 1 billion barrels of resources. "This can be managed," Tutka said in a meeting held at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Thursday (March 14, 2024).
Tutuka said the Zulu field itself shows characteristics of heavy oil (H2O). Therefore, specialized equipment is needed to develop this field. "Because the equipment is large, it needs to be diluted with other techniques, such as surfactants. That's why we encourage Pertamina to use it," Tutka said.
