DIGIVESTASI - Google has introduced a new top-level domain (TLD) with the type .meme (dot.meme). The new domain was officially announced through Google's official blog. Memes are the embodiment of internet culture that captures the attention and hearts of millions of people and users. This finally made Google introduce a new domain type .meme.

"It is appropriate that you can now use your own top-level domain (namely .meme)," Google said in a statement on its official blog, quoted Monday, December 4, 2023.

Google Registry assigns 6 partners and 4 websites to the .meme domain. Its existence is intended to be a reference for internet users looking for interesting and entertaining content. There are currently several database sites that use the .meme TLD. One of them is Know Your Meme with the page name knowyou.meme.

This .meme site was created to present entertainment articles and your favorite trending memes. Based on Tempo's search on the site, we actually have information and references regarding trending memes.  Besides Know Your Meme, there is also a .meme site that features cat memes with the site name grumpycat.meme. 

Through this website, users can also view and record the memes they upload to serve as entertainment and convenience for cat lovers. According to Google's official blog, Google opened registration for the early access phase two days ago. While the plan will be released to the public on December 5, 2023.

".Meme is available to the public at an annual base price of your choice. To find out where to register your .meme domain, visit get.meme," said Google's official blog. 

Google hopes that the existence of the .meme TLD can bring joy and fun to its loyal users. Because Google also sees .meme as an interesting form of social movement.
