Foreign Investors Record Net Sell of Rp 26.04 Trillion on the IDX Throughout 2025

Foreign investors have continued to offload their holdings on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Eko Susanto, Corporate Secretary of IDX, reported that from January to March 2025, foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp 26.04 trillion. Meanwhile, for the trading week of March 10-14, 2025, the net sell reached Rp 1.77 trillion.

"Throughout 2025, foreign investors have recorded a net sell of Rp 26.04 trillion," Eko stated in a written press release on Sunday (March 16, 2025).


 

Decline in Trading Frequency and Market Capitalization

Alongside foreign investor outflows, the IDX also observed changes in the average daily trading frequency. Last week, the daily trading frequency stood at 1.10 million transactions, but this week, it declined by 1.48% to 1.09 million transactions.

 

The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) also saw a 1.81% drop, falling to 6,515.631 from 6,636.000 the previous week. Similarly, IDX market capitalization shrank by 1.87%, decreasing from Rp 11,450 trillion to Rp 11,235 trillion in the past week.


 

Declining Trading Volume and Value

Moreover, the average daily trading volume on the IDX saw a 12.94% decline, dropping from 19.88 billion shares to 17.31 billion shares over the week.

 

The daily trading value also weakened, falling by 28.43%, from Rp 13.14 trillion to Rp 9.40 trillion, compared to the previous week.

"Today, foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp 1.77 trillion. So far in 2025, the total foreign investor net sell has reached Rp 26.04 trillion," Eko concluded.
