Silver Prices Hit a New Record as Market Capitalization Nears US$4 Trillion
Silver prices have reached a new all-time high, breaking above the US$71 per ounce level and pushing the precious metal’s market capitalization close to US$4 trillion. Global market data indicate that the surge reflects rising investor interest in safe-haven assets amid heightened global economic uncertainty, as reported by Crypto Briefing.
The sharp rise in silver prices has become one of the most prominent highlights in the commodities market throughout 2025. According to the report, the price of the white metal has surged by more than 138% year-to-date, outperforming gold, which has also posted record highs. With a market valuation approaching that of major global technology giants, silver now ranks among the world’s four largest assets by value, trailing only companies such as Apple and Nvidia.
Macro Factors and Industrial Demand Drive the Rally
Market analysts believe that the silver rally has been supported by a combination of macroeconomic factors, including expectations of monetary policy easing by the US Federal Reserve, a weakening US dollar, and rising global geopolitical tensions. These conditions have encouraged investors to shift toward assets perceived as safer stores of value.
Beyond macroeconomic drivers, industrial demand for silver remains robust. The renewable energy sector and the electronics industry continue to absorb significant supplies of the metal, reinforcing long-term demand fundamentals and providing additional support for the upward price trend.
Safe-Haven Demand Strengthens, Volatility Risks Remain
The appreciation in silver prices aligns with growing investor caution across global financial markets, amid volatility in equities and risk-sensitive assets such as cryptocurrencies. The rally underscores ongoing capital flows into assets that offer protection against inflation risk and currency depreciation.
Nevertheless, several experts caution that extreme price surges may lead to heightened short-term volatility. Investors are therefore advised to remain vigilant about the potential for price corrections, even though silver’s long-term outlook is still widely regarded as being in a strong bullish trend.
