DIGIVESTASI - IHSG Corrects to 6,900 Level Following Hawkish Fed Signals, The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) faced heavy pressure, plunging to the 6,900 level after the Federal Reserve signaled a more hawkish monetary policy stance. At the close of trading on Thursday (December 19, 2024), the IHSG dropped by 1.84% to 6,977.24.

The day's stock transactions reached approximately IDR 14.13 trillion, with a total trading volume of 21.71 billion shares exchanged in 1.28 million transactions. A total of 97 stocks posted gains, while 521 stocks fell, and 170 remained unchanged.

Foreign Investors Record Net Sales

Foreign selling also weighed on the index's movement, with net sales reaching IDR 943.95 billion across all markets. This included IDR 751.56 billion in the regular market and IDR 192.39 billion in negotiated and cash markets.

However, foreign investors continued to buy certain select stocks. Newly-listed PT Daya Intiguna Yasa Tbk. (MDIY) became a favorite, with a net foreign buy of IDR 180.75 billion. Additionally, shares of PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk. (BREN) and PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk. (MEDC) were also among the most targeted, with foreign purchases of IDR 34.56 billion and IDR 30.51 billion, respectively.
